A new immigration route opened on 31 January 2021, providing British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) status holders from Hong Kong and their dependants with the opportunity to come to the UK to live, study, and work, on a pathway to citizenship.

HMG has made £43.1 million available to local authorities to support this weclome programme. This includes £30.7 million in targeted funding for ESOL and destitution support.

We are now working closely with North East local authorities and NGOs to deliver accredited and non-accredited English class (BNO English Class) to BN(O)  status holders from Hong Kong and their dependents.

 

Eligibility:

1. BN(O) status holders and their eligible family members who are on the BN(O) route;

2. Living in North East England; and

3. First Come First Served.
